Big Kids Playing With Toys

Nostalgia has always been a foundation for what Hot Peas & Butta is based off of, not a feeling of being old or playing old music but a feeling of being young and timeless in a then, now and forever type of way. One of the major ways of us feeling nostalgic comes from the fact that we are more than just DJ’s here at the office, we’re collectors of all sorts of things old and new alike and since Christmas is around the corner we thought that it would be the right time to take you back to a more fun and simpler time of how children then enjoy toys as big kids today.

So we’ve decided to break down our Top 5 toys that we were excited to unwrap as kids during Christmas.

#5 Rock’em Sock’em Robots

First released in 1964 by the Marx Toy Company. Putting heads to bed was never so much fun.

#4 Race Tracks and Train sets

As a young lad growing up in the 60′s, 70′s and 80′s the race track was on everyone’s list with train sets dating back even earlier.

#3 Adventure Team G.I. Joe w/ Kung Fu Grip

These poseable figures made playing in dirt an adventure, and just like Joe, Hot Peas & Butta is still the only party with Kung Fu Grip!

#2 Atari 2600 (1977)

The ultimate home gaming system of it’s time, yes things have gotten more advanced but th impact this system made will outlast anytihng that finds it’s way coming after it.

#1 Star Wars Figures and Playsets

1977 was a great year for many reasons but most of all was the flood gates that the Star Wars franchise opened up on the world of marketing.
